Ready, Set, Go! Synergy Fitness - Synergy Fitness for Time Crunched Adults.
Campbell, Phil
Book Number: 51105
ISBN: 0971663386
Pristine Publishers, Inc. February 24, 2007 4to softcover 384pp very good. This is an excellent fitness book. It is both well researched and well written. What makes this book so good is the fact that if you follow the program the author is outlining, then you will cover every aspect of fitness that is important, the author does not leave anything out. From weigthlifting, to cardio, to stretching, to anaerobic interval style training, everything is present in this program. I have read many other books that make an argument that weightlifting is essential, but leave out how to integrate cardio work. Some books emphasize cardio, but leave out the short "sprint" style interval training that is so important to overall fitness. This plan covers everything!

My Sergei: A Love Story
Gordeeva, Ekaterina
Book Number: 35819
ISBN: 044652087X
New York Warner Books Inc 1996 8vo hardcover 292pp colour & b/w illus. very good / very good d/w. From Publishers Weekly: In the former Soviet Union, the sports establishment, charged with producing winners for the greater glory of the empire, had almost unlimited power over the athletically gifted. Children as young as five or six were identified, sent to special schools and given rigorous training in the sports in which they were expected to excel. Two such youngsters were Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov, paired as skaters by their teachers when they were 11 and 14, respectively. Throughout their training and into the start of their competitive careers, each thought of the other only as an athletic partner, partly because the four-year difference in their ages meant they had few friends in common. But as time passed and their joint career led to international championships, they fell in love and married. Their success culminated in Olympic gold medals in 1990 and 1994. And then, suddenly, Grinkov died of a heart attack in 1995 at age 28. The story of their love and their happiness together is deeply moving, and the final chapters are heartrending, while the many photos heighten the tale. First serial to People and Redbook; Literary Guild and Doubleday Book Club alternates; author tour. nCopyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc.nnFrom Library JournalnGordeeva and Sergei Grinkov were one of the finest ice skating pairs in the world. Born in Russia, they won European championships, world championships, and gold medals at two Olympics. They married in 1991 and continued to perform after the birth of their daughter. Sergei died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 28 while rehearsing with his wife. Gordeeva here describes their skating and personal life in Russia and the United States in poignant, caring detail. Equally captivating are her descriptions of her childhood, her family, and her life as a champion and professional skater. Unlike recent tell-alls about figure skating (e.g., the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding spectacle), this biography is not sensational. It simply tells the story of two hard-working, competitive young people who fell in love and whose love ended too soon. For all collections.n-?J. In 1972, aged just 23, he became the youngest person ever to win the World Championship. He repeated this achievement in an emotional final 10 years later, in the process becoming the biggest box-office draw the game has ever known. Alex Higgins was a showman, gambler, comedian, bully, charmer and alcoholic. His antics - and ferocious temper - were legendary yet he was loved by millions. Now, dying of cancer, he has spent everything he has and divided his time between Manchester and Belfast, where he survives by playing #10 snooker matches in pubs. No Excuses: The True Story of a Congenital Amputee Who Became a Champion in Wrestling and in Life
Maynard, Kyle
Book Number: 50577
ISBN: 0895260115
Regnery Press September 19, 2005 8vo hardcover 243pp near fine. Traffic jams, bills, bad weather, and work are things we all complain about. But Kyle Maynard doesn't complain. Born without arms or legs below his elbows and knees, he excels: as a champion athlete, inspirational speaker, college student (who can use a cell phone, type fifty words a minute, and maintain an A average), and male model. No Excuses is his inspirational autobiography that shows how a positive can-do attitude gives someone we might see as disadvantaged the advantage over life. Born with a rare disorder called "congenital amputation," Maynard's story is one of a devoted extended family, strong religious faith, and a personal determination that made him a football lineman, a state champion wrestler, and an inspirational figure who was featured in the highest rated "Larry King Live" show ever. No Excuses is Kyle Maynard's own story, but also the story of how he has changed the lives and attitudes of other people: even making Howard Stern rethink his support of abortion to become pro-life. No Excuses proves that in the end it is not disabilities that separate people but abilities of the heart. Faced with impossible challenges Kyle Maynard lives life with No Excuses. He was born a congenital amputee, his arms ending at his elbows and his legs at his knees. But that didn't stop Kyle Maynard from becoming a champion, on the wrestling mat and in his life. NO EXCUSES is the inspiring story of Kyle's battle against the odds. You'll learn about the family who supported him, the coach who trained him, and the faith that strengthened him to face the toughest fights. In addition to Kyle Maynard's amazing story, revealed in its entirety for the first time, you'll learn about: ·How Kyle's parents dealt with the shock of his birthn·Why they allowed him "no excuses"-and how that benefited Kyle as he learned to eat, type, write, and live without handsn·How Kyle earned his way onto the football team-as a hardnosed defensive linemann·How Kyle triumphed as a top state wrestler in Georgian·The core values that Kyle gained from his coach, his family, and the demands of competitionn·How Kyle's own incredible success met a new barrier: from the federal government, which blocked him from a future NCAA wrestling career.·How Kyle has changed people's minds and opinions on the value of life·The principles that have made Kyle a champion.BONUS:·Kyle's very own diet and exercise regimen, which helped him compete at the highest levels·Thirteen ways to live a No Excuses life NO EXCUSES is a book about a courageous young man who faced the seemingly impossible challenge to live a normal life-and won a phenomenal victory.
